Project Genesis materialised the day we decided to choose the interactive story as an option for a module assignment at university.
What you will experience on this website is a short interactive fictional story based on the creation and expulsion of Adam and Eve. We have used the main theme from the Genesis in order to get the story rolling. The topic was entirely up to us, but we were also given the option of reinterpreting an existing one. This theme seemed apt since most people have heard of it. And so to fulfill the requirements of the project, we thought of using this well-known theme to let the user decide what pattern the story takes and how it will end.
Please bear in mind that this project is purely fictional. We do not intend to influence or negate anyone’s religious beliefs nor do we have any intention of imposing our ideas on anyone.
We hope you enjoy choosing your own leads and perhaps even see what the other options lead to. Don’t forget to post comments and feel free to start a discussion. Critique our choices, suggest your own, and give us feedback about the idea as a whole. You can also post interesting links that you feel relate to the theme, but refrain from abusive language otherwise we will have to delete your post!
So go ahead and see where your choices take you and plan your own endings by leaving comments. You can now see what impact your choices have on the climax of the story and hence on the ‘fictional’ situation of humanity today!

The tree burst from his stomach, his head became Xibalba and the roots became Earth. The First Father died for our existence. Adam and Eve are the only survivors of Ragnarok. They gaze at the stars and wonder why they were made. God appears and says…
The story of Adam and Eve reflects the strengths of Eve over powerful physical attributes of Adam. Even after hundreds of decades have gone, the basic principle is unchanged. Women instigate men to commit something on which they both get upset and then women blames men and men on women.
Its a creative idea which gives a motive to use mind. Well done.
A perfect example of creation even with the something as basic as adam and eve. Liked the idea of driving the story on your own, ah rather getting to know what would have happened if this was the decision. So basically no ifs and buts…
Wish life also becomes like that with an option to come back and choose another option later… alas that’s not possible!
BRAVO!! i would say..it is a good way of applying creative ideas about creation of Adam and Eve on your own fictional way with reference of the Genesis….;) As we know…Eve was created by God using Adam’s ribs as Adam was lonely! God was very thoughtful and created a suitable partner for the man in such a creative way…so does this PROJECT GENESIS..bringing up their own creative ideas..about things that we might not know or did not pay attention to…it is understandable..nothing religious but purely fictional..very impressive..keep up the good work team!!
Hey, the ideas are very interesting, opens us up to wide range of thoughts. i wander how u came up with all this… seriously hav to say.. good work.. keep it up… probably u can come up with more blogs on miths… science friction stuff… congrats~!!!
a very unique idea indeed!makes you really think about ‘the original sin’ and its different aspects! great work people!
Very interesting, I like the idea of being able to see all sorts of endings in “what if” scenarios. I love the fact that the scenarios also refer to genesis, and although ficitonal it doesnt drift away too far from genesis. keep up the awesome work!!
Hiya
This is ( as has been said 7 times before me ) a very, very interesting idea. More than anything, I find this healthy : imagining otherwise is a sound place to begin critique from. So bravo to your brave brains and I wish you speed in this project.
I would like to suggest that you act wisely in the themes that you choose to unpack : pick one or two ( at the most, three ).
If I had to suggest a theme, I would inevitably have to go with Gender & Sexuality, a silently ragging theme in much of your space. The idea of being “naked” and “unashamed” requires some teasing and perhaps you could bring out the various (dis)guises most children of Adam & Eve have come to wear, (dis)guises that shadow the beauty of the image.
And oooooo yes yes, another theme I would love to see is that of representation. Berger would be a perfect lens to view this from and your brains could bring out the ways in which Adam & Eva have been (re)presented to the masses. This (re)presetation is never neutral and seems to always shadow the real image, the real which truly is power. POWER DYNAMICS IN REPRESENTATION : WHO GETS TO PLAY WITH ADAM & EVE? THAT SHOULD BE FUN, NO?:)
All in all, awesome stuff
and do keep us posted
Tata
and oye oye, one more thing….would you guys consider a conversation with GOD? As an afterword kind of thing?
Sukaina jee, I think you that I love Nusrat’s music and in one song “Tum ik gorakh dhanda ho” he plays with Adam and Eve and asks GOD a daringly delightful question :
” Jurm Adam nai kiya aur saza betay ko”
The crime was done by Adam and the punishment is given to the sons”?
THINK ABOUT IT!!!:):)
i TOTALLY love the idea of ‘Conversation with God’, what say girls?
regarding Nusrat Fateh’s music – funny that he should put it that way…i mean i’m assuming here that he’s written the lyrics (ok, is he the writer for this particular song?) from an Islamic perspective…n according to that, Man is originally sinless…evil takes roots in him through external factors…therefore any punishment is a direct result of something that person has done in his/her life…Adam DID eat from the tree in the earthly paradise, but after coming into this world and getting the responsibility of vicegerency on earth, he became clean and sinless….
…unless NFAK decided to go OUR way and create Islamic fiction?
i really do not know if he wrote those lyrics; a suspicious voice in me head tells me so….but that is the paradox, no? Adam did the sin, why the tension between the responsibility and blame?
take it on, TALK TO GOD!!! ROCK ON!!!
Oh I think all you media students could arm yourself with Arthur Asa Berger which is down in the library along with other semiotic analysis books and try your hand at this. This really is turning out to be more than we ever expected it to be
And Ali the tension exists because noone wants to accept their mistakes. Most people don’t believe that Adam sinned as much as Eve. That’s what we tried to set straight here.
Love the idea, it’s definitely an interesting concept to work with! I’ll let you know if I have any ideas.
I must say that the idea is absolutely brilliant, and that you people have come up with a great project. Thanks Sukaina, for letting me know of the link. I really think you guys have given this a great shot.
And when you come down to it, temptation is one great flaw of Man, and I guess that’s where it originated. Whatever the source, temptation has been one thing that Man has not been able to get rid of, and ofen this is what brings about the events and their sudden turn in our lives.
Well thought out, well planned…. You’ve given the reader a chance to open his/her mind up to new ideas and possibilities, to move out of the box with your out of the box idea!
Very nice! You made a familiar story very interesting by pondering some of the choices that had to have been made in the original history. “What if I had been there? What would I have done? What would be the outcome?”
I found it interesting that in many ways, no matter the choices made, the end is similar – humankind is estranged from God, their Creator and One with whom they had once enjoyed perfect relationship. I guess one could say there remains to this day, if you will, a “missing link” in this relationship, a void that Pascal called the God-shaped whole in every person’s heart.
Super idea for your project. Really fascinating approach. I love these kinds of things that make you think more deeply through the familiar.
I recommend taking the journey and if you don’t like the ending try again. Too bad life isn’t that way. Hey wait a minute I guess it is kinda. There are many second chances.
